On 7 January 2026, East Delhi Medical Centre organised a medical camp at the National School of Drama, bringing essential health screenings and specialist medical consultations directly to the NSD community.

For the EDMC team, the occasion carried special significance. The National School of Drama is one of India’s foremost cultural institutions—a place that has nurtured generations of actors, directors, writers and theatre practitioners, many of whom have gone on to shape Indian theatre and cinema. Many artists, students, staff members and professionals associated with NSD also come from or reside in East Delhi and its neighbouring areas, giving the camp an especially meaningful connection with the community we serve.

It was both a privilege and an honour for East Delhi Medical Centre to extend its healthcare services to a national institution of such stature.

Medical Consultations and Essential Health Screenings

A general physician was available during the camp to consult participants about everyday health concerns, recurring symptoms and existing medical conditions. People could discuss concerns such as fatigue, weakness, headaches, digestive discomfort and fluctuations in blood pressure or blood sugar, while also receiving guidance on whether further consultation or testing might be required.

Blood pressure and blood glucose screenings were conducted as part of the camp. Although these tests take only a few minutes, they can reveal important health indicators that may otherwise remain unnoticed. Participants were able to understand their readings and seek appropriate medical advice wherever follow-up was recommended.

Dedicated Gynaecology Consultation

A gynaecologist was also available, offering women a comfortable setting in which to discuss their health concerns. Menstrual irregularities, hormonal changes, reproductive health questions and symptoms related to menopause are often ignored or postponed. The consultation allowed participants to speak directly with a specialist, clarify their doubts and understand whether a more detailed medical evaluation was necessary.

More Than a Routine Check-up

The camp received an encouraging response from the NSD community. People came forward not only for screenings but also to ask questions, discuss existing health conditions and better understand the readings recorded during their check-ups.

That conversation is an important part of preventive healthcare. A brief consultation can encourage someone to begin monitoring their blood pressure, seek timely help for a long-standing symptom or simply become more attentive to changes in their health. We were genuinely happy to offer this support to the people associated with an institution that has contributed so richly to India’s cultural life.

EDMC Team Felicitated by NSD Director Chittaranjan Tripathy

At the conclusion of the camp, the East Delhi Medical Centre team was felicitated by Mr Chittaranjan Tripathy, Director of the National School of Drama.

An acclaimed actor, theatre director, writer and musician, Mr Tripathy has made a distinguished contribution to theatre, television and Indian cinema. Receiving the felicitation from an artist and cultural figure of his stature made the occasion particularly memorable for our doctors and staff.

Taking Preventive Healthcare Beyond the Hospital

East Delhi Medical Centre has served families across East Delhi and surrounding areas for more than three decades. Initiatives such as this allow our doctors to take medical guidance beyond the hospital and reach people within the institutions and communities that form an important part of the city.

We sincerely thank the National School of Drama for giving us the opportunity to organise the camp and for the warmth extended to the EDMC team. It was an honour to serve an institution that remains a cornerstone of India’s performing arts and has given Indian cinema some of its most respected voices.
