Dr. Ajay Bedi is a multifaceted medical doyen with over 30 years of clinical and institutional leadership. As a senior Anaesthesiologist, he has overseen tens of thousands of surgeries across his career, guiding surgical teams with calm judgement and dependable expertise inside the operating theatre.
Thirty-six years ago, at a time when Shahdara lacked structured, reliable healthcare services, Dr. Bedi founded East Delhi Medical Centre with a vision to bring organised, accessible and ethical medical care to the community. What began as a need-driven initiative has grown into a trusted healthcare institution that continues to serve families across East Delhi.
Along with his clinical and organisational roles, he has also contributed to the medical fraternity as the Honorary Secretary of the Delhi Medical Association, a position that reflects his longstanding relationships, goodwill and deep engagement with doctors across the city.

During his tenure as Honorary Secretary of the Delhi Medical Association, Dr. Ajay Bedi played a central role in strengthening communication, coordination and support systems for doctors across the capital. His position placed him at the intersection of medical practice, administration and policy dialogue — allowing him to understand the real issues faced by clinicians on the ground and work towards practical solutions.

Across more than thirty years in the operating theatre, Dr. Ajay Bedi has overseen 10,000+ surgical procedures, working alongside surgeons from multiple specialities and managing cases ranging from routine operations to complex, high-risk interventions.
His extensive clinical experience has shaped the operative standards at East Delhi Medical Centre, where he has trained younger anaesthesiologists, introduced structured pre-operative assessments, and refined patient-monitoring practices. Colleagues frequently describe him as the steady hand in the room — someone who anticipates challenges early and maintains composure even in demanding situations. Over the years, he has contributed to building a culture of safety, clarity and teamwork across the hospital’s surgical ecosystem.

When Dr. Ajay Bedi founded East Delhi Medical Centre more than 36 years ago, Shahdara had limited access to organised healthcare. What began as a modest clinic steadily grew under his leadership into one of the area’s most trusted surgical centres — built on disciplined systems, dependable care and a commitment to serving the community.
Under his direction, EDMC became Shahdara’s first hospital to perform RIRS laser surgery, expanded into a multi-speciality setup, and developed a strong ICU and surgical wing with modern equipment. The hospital earned QAI and SafeCare accreditation and today is empanelled with all major insurance providers, reflecting the standards he helped establish.
Through consistent guidance and long-term vision, Dr. Bedi shaped East Delhi Medical Centre into a reliable, technology-ready and ethically grounded healthcare institution for the families of Shahdara.
