Dr. Ajay Bedi is a multifaceted medical doyen with over 30 years of clinical and institutional leadership. As a senior Anaesthesiologist, he has overseen tens of thousands of surgeries across his career, guiding surgical teams with calm judgement and dependable expertise inside the operating theatre.

Thirty-six years ago, at a time when Shahdara lacked structured, reliable healthcare services, Dr. Bedi founded East Delhi Medical Centre with a vision to bring organised, accessible and ethical medical care to the community. What began as a need-driven initiative has grown into a trusted healthcare institution that continues to serve families across East Delhi.

Along with his clinical and organisational roles, he has also contributed to the medical fraternity as the Honorary Secretary of the Delhi Medical Association, a position that reflects his longstanding relationships, goodwill and deep engagement with doctors across the city.

A Journey of 3 Decades

Held as the foundations of EDMC were being established, the ceremony marked the beginning of a vision to bring dependable, high-quality healthcare to East Delhi.

It was one of the earliest milestones in the journey of an institution that would go on to serve the community for decades.

Dr. Bedi has played a defining role in leading East Delhi Medical Centre’s evolution into one of Shahdara’s most respected surgical centres. The hospital has steadily expanded its surgical capabilities — including becoming the first in Shahdara to introduce RIRS laser surgery for kidney stones.

Today, EDMC’s operating theatres support a broad spectrum of procedures, from complex limb reconstruction to specialised urological and orthopaedic surgeries.
